A windmill led me to Round Pond, Maine in 2024. Nothing stood out on Zillow for me, my wife, 4 children, 2 cats, dog and goldfish until we saw a sprawling pink house with a windmill – it had to be! Within the sprawl of a house, I spied an opportunity to fulfill a dream. A former art gallery could be converted to a cheese shop, a proper cheese shop that smells of cheese, where you can sample the cheese before you buy, where the owner knows the producer and the producer knows the animals.

Inspired by the cheese shops in Edinburgh, Glasgow and London where I once lived, I’m creating a home for the obsessed, curious or casual cheese-lover. With cheese rounds on wooden shelves and blocks ready to be cut at your request, I want you to experience the sensory thrill of a real cheese shop.

Cheese likes company. We’ll have a unique selection of sensational wines, sourced from small producers of the new and old worlds. We’ll have olives, crackers, oatcakes, antipasti, local produce, fresh bread, good butter, jams and chutneys, and all manner of weird and wonderful victual, vittles and viands.
