The word Lambrusco is often associated with sweetness, but this is not a sweet wine. It is dry and frankly delicious outside by the grill. Jump to the southern hemisphere, the ’No Es Pituko’ (“It’s Not Fancy”) from Chile comes from old vine Sauvignon Blanc that sees 60 days of skin contact and leaves us with stone fruit and wild herbs. This is not a stereotypical Sauv Blanc. Last, we end up in Slovenia with this gorgeous expression of the Malvasija grape that sees some skin contact and thus incorporates a bit of tannin and oxidative quality with fresh white flowers and peach.
