This nimble 3 pack covers a variety of terroir.
From left to right, we start near the Dalmatian coast of Croatia with the Plavina grape, farmed organically near the town of Šibenik. This is a lighter body red that comes out at a modest 13.2% alcohol. It benefits from a little chill and oh yea, it’s delicious. The Berthier stood out to us at a trade tasting earlier this year; the freshness of the Gamay balances the seriousness of the Pinot Noir in a beautiful way. Last, we’re jumping across the Mediterranean sea to Sardinia, where Grenache or Garnacha is known as Cannonau. This wine is farmed in a natural amphitheater that holds the cooler sea air, helping to mitigate high heat and lend a bit of salinity to the wine.
Pomalo Plavina - Šibenik, Croatia - 2022
Vignobles Berthier Coteaux du Giennois - Pinot Noir, Gamay - Loire Valley, France - 2021
Mario Bagella ‘1 Sorso’ - Cannonau (Grenache) - Sardinia - 2022
