La Palazzetta Brunello di Montalcino
Vintage: 2020
Grape: Sangiovese
Region: Tuscany, Italy
Appellation: Siena, Montalcino
Soils: Limestone rich in stone marl
Alc/Vol: 14%
Climate: Mild Mediterranean
Farming: Organic, careful selection and hand harvesting.
Winemaking: Controlled fermentation and maceration of about 20 days with indigenous yeasts.
Aging: 3.5 years in neutral french oak cask and 6 months in bottle
This is Sangiovese at its happiest. The Fanti family manages every part of the harvesting and fermentation for their 40 hectares by hand; no else is involved! Their philosophy is to intervene as minimally as possible in the cellar.
The lower elevation vineyards result in a warmer terroir, lending structure and power in the wines.
The care and craftsmanship really shines through with this wine. For my taste, it’s worth the splurge.
